Shari Short, Bentonville AR

Shari ShortThe visual and performing arts have held the most enchanting memories of my lifetime. Traveling with my daughter, a two-time national champion ballerina, I have been fortunate to see artists of many kinds display their works of art. From original choreography and designer costuming to fine sculptures and timeless paintings, the workmanship of all the artists is truly incredible.

I often paint with an impressionistic palette and use heavy textures and dramatic colors. I love the depth and uniqueness the texture gives. My presentations range from abstract to realism, but my favorite creations are mixed media on hard boards to include crackle paste and bark paper. I feel each piece should become a conversation piece for its owner and allow the owner to interject their own personalities into the life of the art work.

My shows include “Pieces of America” exhibit in the Tim Murphy Art Gallery in Merriam, Kansas, A display at Maple Uncommon Hotel and Gallery in Columbus, Kansas; The Joplin Arts Festival, an exhibit at Big Spring Gallery in Neosho, Missouri, and the Annual showing at Art on the Creeks in Rogers, Arkansas. I currently exhibit at Local Color Art Gallery in Joplin and Wishing Spring Art Gallery in Bella Vista  I am owner of High Pointe Performing Arts Studio with my daughter, Arissa Sanders, in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Local memberships include the Joplin Regional Artists Coalition and Village Art Club. Giclees/prints are available on several of my art creations. Commission work requests can be discussed with me directly at sharishort1@aol.com.

My quest is to entice the viewer – to imagine a place and time that speaks to the heart and mind. Art has its own intrigue and mystery to be unraveled; and how meaningful it is when we discover it.
