Becky Golubski, Pierce City MO

In 2006, Becky Golubski gave her first shot at painting a Westie while exploring soft pastels. Golubski liked the way the rich, vibrant and buttery stubbs of color allowed her to build layers of thick, fluffy fur. She quickly fell in love with the challenge to capture expression of ‘man’s best friend’ in pastel and knew this was her calling as an artist.

Golubski also paints with oils, particularly when en plein air. She finds a similar challenge of building texture with brush and palette knife to be refreshing. Plein air painting with friends nearby and beach vacations are fuel for inspiration when it comes to oils.

Golubski is a member of Spiva, artCentral, JRAC, is a Signature member of the Ozark Pastel Society, SMAA, and has been a featured artist at the Museum of the Dog in St. Loius, MO, and has shown at the MARC in Mount Vernon.

Exhibiting in numerous local art walks, festivals, and competitions throughout Missouri has led Golubski to being an arts advocate. In 2008, she founded the Pierce City Arts Council and is coordinator of the Pierce City Arts Festival. She served as a co-director of the Four State Regional Thomas Hart Benton Art Competition from 2010-2015 and is a co-instructor for Canvas and Cocktails at Keen Bean Coffee house in Mount Vernon and Canvas and Coffee at Mocha Joe’s in Monett.
