530 Somewhere, in conjunction with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, Local Color Art Gallery, and the Downtown Gallery of Joplin, is proud to announce a ribbon-cutting event and community unveiling to kick off the fundraiser for the Joplin Humane Society, currently exhibited at the Downtown Gallery of Joplin, located at 6th
and Main.
Local Downtown Joplin Restaurant, 530 Somewhere, is the sponsor of the exhibit. “We are proud to sponsor this exhibit and support the arts, artists, and our local businesses, which are so important to the culture of our community,” said Garen McMillian of 530 Somewhere.
About the Fundraiser
Recognizing the vital role played by the Joplin Humane Society in rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding homes for animals in need, the art galleries have joined forces to raise funds and awareness for this noble cause. The “We Love our Pets” artwork event, featuring artwork created by students from art classes taught by the Local Color Art Gallery, will be displayed at the Downtown Gallery of Joplin starting on February 14th, 2024. This collaboration between the two galleries aims to use creativity to positively impact the lives of animals in the Joplin community.
Throughout the fundraising program, the public is invited to scan the QR Code or visit www.localcolorartgalleryjoplin.com to vote “Loved” with a $5.00 donation or make a purchase. All proceeds from the sale of artwork or “Loved Donations” will be donated directly to the Joplin Humane Society to support their ongoing efforts in caring for and advocating for animals.
“We believe that art has the power to unite communities and create lasting change,” said Margie Moss, a Member Artist at Local Color Art Gallery. “By partnering with the Downtown Gallery of Joplin and supporting the Joplin Humane Society, we aim to uplift the local arts scene while also making a tangible difference in the lives of animals in need.”
“We invite the Joplin community to join us in this collaborative effort to support the Joplin Humane Society,” expressed Paul Whitehill, Director of the Downtown Gallery of Joplin. “Together, we can make a significant impact and improve the lives of our furry friends who bring joy, companionship, and unconditional love.”
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Friday, March 15th, at 4:00 pm. Please come join the event and meet some of the 53 amazing artists who created the 53 paintings and possibly some live furry friends from the Humane Society. In the event of inclement weather, the ribbon cutting will be moved indoors at 530 Somewhere.
